Client Invoicing Goes Online: FreshBooks

FreshBooks calls itself the “Fastest Way to Invoice Your Clients.” It’s clear from their website that they’re trying to make the invoicing process simple, intuitive and highly functional without adding undue complexity.

FreshBooks lets you create, send and manage client invoicing via their website. You can also track time on a project, generate invoices to be sent via US mail or email, accept payment online (via PayPal and others), automatically issue late notices, import and export data, upload your logo for branding purposes, and have it walk your dog. Well, it does so much, I figured the latter was within the realm of possibility!

FreshBooks is free for a 30-day trial, then free for up to three active clients, $14.99/month for up to 25 clients, and similar increases for more robust needs. They’ve also put some thought into site security and you can read about their efforts at Security Safeguards.

In their FreshBooks Manifesto, they make these commitments to users:

Our mission is to deliver fast and simple invoicing and time tracking services that help you manage your business. We call these Unaccounting™ services and they will:

  • Save you time
  • Be easy to use
  • Make you look professional (think Fortune 500)
  • Let you manage your books without an accountant
  • Secure, encrypt, and back up your data
  • Be available 24/7 from anywhere with any computer

Freshbooks is a certain a great app, very robust and full featured. But I thought your readers might want to know about our new app (http://www.LessAccounting.com) It will integrate with basecamp, tickspot, harvest, freshbooks and blinksale (incase you need a robust invoice).

We are in beta testing it right now, it has some interesting features.

  2. Allan, thanks for making me aware of LessAccounting…looks pretty intriguing and I’ve signed up for a beta invitation. Anything that might make small business accounting simpler, seamless and efficient sure gets my attention.

If you’re looking for a full featured invoicing application for your small business, check our our new app Cashboard.

We just released yesterday to rave reviews…and it has Basecamp API support built in from the get go.
